Hello, well Hudson had a follow up
doctor appt this morning. The Xray shows good progress on closing the
gap where the break was but not enough were he will be released. The
good news is that the gap is clearly closing and the bone implant is
growing just not at the speed the we would like it to! He is very
hopeful that in 4 weeks we will have achieved goal and won the race of
healing his leg. The good news is that the pin has not bent or shown a
rejection either.
Please keep your fingers crossed that the next 4 weeks we will as
quickly as the last 9 have and that we have lots of growth in the gap!
He is always so excited to go for a car ride, however when we got to the
parking lot he quickly realized where he was and refused to come out of
his crate. I could not even bribe him with treats. I had to go get
help to get him out. Poor guy was shaking and all nervous!
When we got back home he looked around to make sure it was ok to come
out of the crate! We go back 9-21!
UPDATE - 7/2
(as reported from foster dad,
Steve)
Kevin just called and gave me the report on
the trip to the doctor to remove the bandage. Everything went well and it
was healed well enough that they even removed the stitches. The person who
removed the bandages and stitches said Hudson was just the best dog and
allowed her to do everything without any issue at all. Kevin also said a
little girl asked to pet Hudson and Hudson was loving it (I know Hunter can
get there also, just needs a little more time).
We are to take Hudson back in 4 weeks. These next 4 weeks are going to be
worse than this first 9 days. He is beginning to think he is all better and
wants to do everything as usual. We are going to move him to a slightly
bigger wire cage (at least while we are around) and see how he does. He has
been spending time on the couch at night with us. He is very good during
this time and lies next to us and enjoys the attention. The rest of the
time is crate time where he is very good also. The only time he whines is
when we go outside. I think while we are doing yard work this weekend, we
will move his crate onto the porch so he can watch and sniff all the outside
scents.

UPDATE - 6/24
(as reported from foster dad,
Steve)
The vet assistant said Hudson was just
relaxing before I got there. He was glad to see me but definitely acted
like he was in pain. He whined all the way home, but once home he stopped.
I gave him a couple of treats which he readily took and I was able to sneak
a pain pill in the treat.
The assistant did show me how to make a
sling support out of a towel/sheet, but the canvas sling sounds good. I
will check at PetsMart on the way home.
A neighbor just went by to check on him.
She said he wagged his tail when she came in but did not attempt to get up
(which is good). She did say he was whimpering but I think he is doing that
because he is just freaked out a little.
I think it will be good when I get home so
I can be with him. I think he needs some normalcy.
Will update more later.

UPDATE - 6/23
(as reported from foster dad,
Kevin)
"Ok the Dr called and it went right to VM! I
called him back but he is in surgery again, he will call me again. The VM
said all went well! They were able to put in a large pin with 2 large
tension ban wires to hold this all together. No surprises, he did emphasis
there were abnormalities to the bone and that is expected with this type of
break but again no surprises. He is in recovery now. So now the fun will
begin with 6 weeks of a V-dog in a crate! hanks for your good thoughts they
worked! PS Hudson said to tell Hunter not to break his leg it is not fun!"
"I
just spoke to the doctor.....What a great man.....The 2 parts of the bone
had
scar tissue over them so they had to reopen that to get blood to flow
so it could make new bone....He said he is sleeping like a baby.....He did
mention that he might need a little longer in the crate would have to see
how it is all healing....."
UPDATE - 6/11
(as reported from foster dad,
Kevin)
"Hello just to update everyone. Little Hudson
was all prepared for his surgery. I drove him up there and dropped him off
then he had some diarrhea and the vet did not want to take any chance on any
bacteria spreading, etc. I know it was a good call. Steve is picking him
up now as we speak. They want to do this in 2 weeks and let the antibiotic
clear this up.
We will keep him on his pain meds but stop the Medicam, they said that can
cause diarrhea as well.
I will let everyone know once we have the new date. He was so cute in the
office awaiting his name to be called." (See photo)
"Ok the date is set for the 23rd now....thanks"
